Keratopigmentation (corneal tattoo) in a patient with longstanding retinal blindness and corneal opacity, who was intolerant to cosmetic contact lenses.The following are the steps involved in the surgical procedure:1. Lamellar dissection: Performing lamellar dissection in a fibrosed thick cornea is more challenging than that of DALK and manual DSEK. The instruments may feel blunt, and you might need to bend and fashion a crescent blade halfway through the process to complete the task.2. Apply tight butterfly stitches to the main incision before injection of the ink.3. Inject the ink and iron it to the margins.4. Administer subconjunctival antibiotics.5. Apply a bandage contact lens. This patient was delighted with the outcome.#keratopigmentation #corneal #surgery

Running Locking SutureThis type of suture technique is best used for evenly laying out tension across a large, preferably a linear laceration. Quick to perform, it saves precious time in a high stakes case such as this one, allowing the surgeon to approximate the subcutaneous tissue and skin with a single suture thread.The following wound closure is being performed on a post CABG patient where LVAD was placed to maintain perfusion in post-op day 1.
